Sharing the Earth

A place to live and work for asylum-seekers, combining market gardening, training and the creation of social bonds in a rural area. In France, the average time for processing asylum applications is 16 months. Most asylum seekers are young, full of resources and potential. However, during this period, they are not allowed to work: they get bored, lose skills, and cannot begin to build a new life. Sharing the Earth creates a place to live and work, organised around an organic market gardening activity (permaculture). It will help asylum seekers to “put down roots” in France, develop skills and bond with the local community.
